My second post is on L-O-V-E ... the ever lasting, shining, rewarding, full of life and light, very best kind of LOVE. Why, you ask? Or maybe you didn't ask ... but I'll tell you anyway, because, after all, this is my blog post and I can write about whatever I want.
For Valentine's Day I made my hubby a "52 Reasons Why I Love You" with a deck of cards, it made me think of all the ways I love him. Than I found a drawing on Pinterest the other day, it was of a sun with "radiate love" written in the center of the sun, and it got me thinking about my favorite quote:
"To Love and To Be Loved is to Feel the Sun from Both Sides"
Its simple right?! :) Perfectly stated. I found this quote a few years ago, by David Viscott (an American author and psychiatrist but thats all I know) and as I read it, it was like a light went on, DING! Wow, that really does describe "love". It stuck with me, I think its perfect, so perfect that we included this saying into our wedding day.
I am lucky, very lucky because "I'm in love, I'm in love and I don't care who knows it" (thats an Elf movie quote, Will Farrell, 2003, hope you got that one because its a great one). But I am also lucky to be able to love so many things in this life.
• I love my husband. He is my bestest friend, my man, my partner in this life.
• I love my brother, more than he could ever, ever know, he is so very important to me.
• I love my parents, they love and support me and I am very, very blessed to have them.
• I love my in-laws, they have become such an important part of my life and a true testament to strength, courage and family.
• I love my friends, we have created so many amazing memories together! Each friend holds a special piece of my heart.
• I love my dog Pepper, too much, sooooo much, she's spoiled and amazing, all at the same time.
• I love my design work. I truly, truly love designing. The feeling I get from creating something for someone, I can't describe it but it is what I strive for.
So, your asking yourself, what the hell does all this have to do with Simple Designs? Well, I have been lucky enough recently, to work with a number of future 2013 brides. It's so exciting for me to see a future brides' look when she's talking her big day. Oh, the possibilities! We could do this and that and this and and AND! I remember all of this like it was yesterday (we're married 6 months, so in the path of life, it was yesterday). It's all so very exciting and special and a once in a lifetime feeling, the joy of celebrating love is what life is about!
I am loving this new part of Simple Designs. I have now created wedding materials (save the dates, invites, rsvps, programs, monograms, etc) for five different weddings and I can't wait to work with more future brides. It's very rewarding for me, as I remember these feelings vividly, of feeling something that you have imagined for your whole life (finding true love) becoming REAL life. "Is this real life?" (See "David After Dentist" on youtube for a good laugh).
So, to all those lovebirds out there, enjoy every minute of this journey together, don't be embarrassed, your happy, who cares! This will only happen once in your life so be in love and feel the sun from both sides!
See below for images of my personal wedding suite. I designed these for our wedding last September. Our theme was trees and our wedding colors were blue and yellow. We included in our wedding suite: a wedding invitation, rsvp card, custom stamped envelopes (all printed on plantable paper), a wedding day timeline and heart confetti. Also, shown is our "save the date" postcard and our "thank you" postcard.
Printing Company for Seeded, Plantable Paper: Forever Fiances, San Diego, CA (they sent me so many different styles of their recycled, plantable paper and we were so nice to work with, they even sent me samples of our invites so we could double check that everything was correct - for free. http://www.foreverfiances.com/
Now I'm just gonna take advantage and show some of the wedding projects
